Ride through the valley and its olive landscape

The route connects the Umbrian countryside with Spello and passes through the Fascia Olivata, the region’s olive-growing landscape. The operator describes backroads and cycle paths, giving the journey a different rhythm from a drive between towns. Look out for the relationship between the groves, cultivated fields and villages on the hills. Electric assistance supports your pedalling, but you still need to feel comfortable controlling a bicycle. Take time at the start to adjust the saddle, understand the controls and follow the guide’s instructions. Save photography for agreed stops and keep your phone put away while riding.

A stop in Spello, followed by time at a winery

Spello combines stone lanes and medieval buildings with visible traces of its Roman past. The town visit is part of a day that also explores the surrounding countryside. It should not be treated as admission to local museums or chapels; arrange additional art visits separately if they are important to your trip. The current Viator itinerary names Tili Vini as the winery stop, with a homemade lunch, olive oil tasting and a guided tasting of wines. Dishes, bottles and serving quantities can vary. Discuss allergies and dietary needs before booking, rather than assuming that every substitution can be accommodated. You can decline the wine; before booking, ask whether the operator can provide an alcohol-free alternative.

Decide whether the ride suits your plans

This experience suits travellers looking for an active outing with a food-and-wine break and time to listen to their guide. The listing requires a moderate level of fitness, gives a maximum group size of ten and states that the activity is not wheelchair accessible. Read the supplier’s restrictions and discuss any uncertainty about participating directly with them. Ask about bicycle sizes, the language of your departure and age requirements too. Collepino appears in the operator’s wider description as an optional additional climb. Do not count on it as a guaranteed stop in the itinerary you book, or plan an independent meeting there.

Meet in Torre del Colle and arrange the last leg

The address is Greenways Italy Tours, Piazza del Castello 5, Torre del Colle di Bevagna. The meeting instructions direct visitors through the village’s upper entrance to its main square. Check your voucher and arrive with time for bicycle preparation; waiting in Spello’s centre would put you in the wrong place. Pickup from local hotels, villas or squares can be requested for an additional charge, with arrangements made after booking. It is not an automatic inclusion. Closed shoes, comfortable clothes and a weather-appropriate extra layer are sensible choices for the day. Bring water and keep what you carry compact.

Spello

How to get there

From the train station

Foligno

Foligno station is a practical rail arrival point for the road transfer to the meeting place. The municipality lists a taxi rank on the station forecourt. Arrange a taxi in advance to Greenways Italy Tours, Piazza del Castello 5, Torre del Colle di Bevagna. Give the full village name and explain the organiser’s instruction to use the upper entrance, agreeing a permitted drop-off point and the final approach to the square. Arrange your return transfer too and allow time before your train. Spello station serves the town visited during the experience; it is not where this ride starts.

From the airport

Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi (PEG)

From Umbria Airport, you can book a taxi directly to Torre del Colle di Bevagna, specifying Piazza del Castello 5 and checking the fare arrangements and drop-off point with the service. The airport publishes local taxi contacts. Another option is Umbria Airlink to Assisi railway station, a rail connection to Foligno and then a taxi to the meeting point. Check services and connections for your actual date: the airport bus does not go to the bicycle base. If your flight leaves little room for delays, choose a later day for the tour. These transfers are arranged separately from the experience.

Always check the meeting point on your voucher: it may vary by the option booked. Check timetables and connections again before travelling.

Before you go

  • Confirm the departure language, a suitable bicycle and participation requirements before booking.
  • Mention allergies and dietary preferences; ask about alcohol-free alternatives in advance.
  • Save your voucher and arrange both outward and return travel to Torre del Colle, keeping it distinct from Spello.
