An island to be recognized from the sea

Navigation connects the different faces of Procida: the inhabited coast, the highest profiles and the corners where the vegetation reaches close to the water. The facades seen from afar take on a different rhythm from that of the alleys. Bringing a small splash-proof camera, or a reliable phone case, allows you to keep images without worrying about every movement of the boat.

Places observed from the coast do not automatically become stops visited on land. The Palazzo d'Avalos, for example, may be part of the landscape recognizable from the sea, but the tour is not equivalent to an entrance into the complex. If you want to delve deeper into the village of Terra Murata, dedicate a separate moment to the walk, taking into account the climb and the temperature in the central hours of the day.

Stops for swimming and photography below the surface

The part in the water makes the tour particularly suitable for those who want to alternate the view with direct contact with the sea. The stops and their duration depend on the conditions and the commander's instructions. There is no need to fixate on a specific cove: a coast sheltered from the wind can offer a more pleasant swim than a well-known but exposed point on the chosen day.

Underwater photographs add a different memory from classic harbor shots. Ask the organization how they are made and delivered, especially if you want to know if everyone participates or just the people who enter the water. The freedom to swim must always be reconciled with the on-board instructions; those who prefer to stay on the boat can evaluate the available spaces and shade in advance.

The departure is in Procida, not in Naples

The meeting point is in Via Roma 29, in the Marina Grande area, near the petrol station in Piazza Marina Grande. The sea connection from the mainland is a separate reservation: arriving at the port of Naples at the tour time is not enough. Choose a ride that leaves you time to disembark, find the meeting point and check in without rushing.

For a complete day you can place the tour between two walks on the island. Already bring your swimsuit, towel and light dry clothing, so after returning you can continue exploring without having to immediately return to your accommodation. Before booking the last ride to Naples, consider that sea conditions can influence both the excursion and scheduled transport.

Procida

How to get there

From the train station

Napoli Centrale + collegamento marittimo

From Naples Centrale reach the port by urban transport or a taxi and check the pier of the chosen company. Hydrofoils to Procida can leave from Molo Beverello, while Caremar ferries use Calata Porta di Massa: they are different terminals. In Procida you disembark in the Marina Grande area and continue on foot towards Via Roma 29. Purchase the connection to the island separately and also check the return journey.

From the airport

Napoli Capodichino

From Naples Capodichino Alibus connects the airport with the railway hub and the port area. The useful stop depends on the boarding pier; with suitcases consider the final journey or a direct transfer. Large margins are needed between flights, ships and tours, especially in high season. If the schedules don't combine well, staying overnight in Procida allows you to experience the tour with greater tranquility.

Always check the meeting point on your voucher: it may vary by the option booked. Check timetables and connections again before travelling.

Before you go

  • The tour boat leaves from the island: the Naples–Procida ticket is not included and must be organized separately.
  • Already worn costume, towel and waterproof case are practical; Bring only what you can fit into a compact bag.
  • Check photo delivery methods, possibility of staying on board and directions to the bathroom before boarding.
