An introduction before the tasting
Viator lists this experience under Sorrento, but the mill is in neighbouring Sant’Agnello, at Via Nastro D’Argento 9. The visit includes a walk among the olive trees and explanations of local olive-oil production. Beginning with this setting gives the tasting a practical context: the oil on the table is the end of a process that starts well before bottling.
The tour explains production; it does not guarantee olive picking, hands-on work or operating machinery on your chosen date. An autumn booking should not be treated as a promise of a live pressing demonstration. If that is a priority, ask the mill before reserving. Useful questions during the visit concern the stages described, the origin of the oils offered and the differences between them.
Fifteen oils and a thoughtful comparison
Viator product 184497P2 specifies fifteen types, including PDO extra-virgin and flavoured oils, served with bread. Flavoured oils introduce ingredients alongside the base oil, so asking what has been added helps make sense of the comparison. Follow the guide’s explanations, try small amounts and allow yourself to notice how one sample differs from the next without needing specialist vocabulary.
Bread and tasting dishes make the activity approachable even for a first visit to an olive mill. You might note the name of a favourite oil and a suggested food pairing to try at home. There is no need to rank every sample: recognising your own preferences is useful in itself. Any products you decide to take away are optional purchases, separate from the guided tasting.
Other samples and dietary requirements
The producer’s programme also describes glazes, honey and preserves, while Viator lists limoncello and cream liqueurs among the inclusions. Treat this as a tasting with accompaniments, rather than assuming a full lunch or an additional wine-tasting course. Confirm the selection and ingredients applicable to your booking, particularly if some foods or drinks are unsuitable for you.
The listing says gluten-free bread is available. Nevertheless, discuss allergies, intolerances and cross-contact requirements in advance: an alternative bread does not automatically establish that every other sample is suitable. You can tell the host you would prefer to skip the alcoholic drinks. For mobility needs, confirm both the route around the property and the transfer vehicle instead of relying only on a general accessibility label.
Allow time for the whole visit
Viator gives an approximate duration of one hour. Check your confirmed start time and the overall time needed, including transfers, before booking another activity immediately afterwards. Hotel and B&B pickup is offered in Sorrento, Sant’Agnello, Piano di Sorrento and Meta. Provide your accommodation details and obtain an agreed meeting point; the producer also describes returning guests to their accommodation.
Day visitors should not assume that a railway-station pickup is included. Arrange a point the operator accepts or book a local taxi to the mill’s full address. Check the language, price, availability and conditions of the chosen option. Comfortable footwear makes sense for the olive-grove section, and generous onward-travel margins are particularly useful if you have a flight later that day.
Sant’Agnello
How to get there
From the train station
Sant’Agnello EAV railway station
From Napoli Piazza Garibaldi, check EAV services on the Naples–Sorrento line stopping at S. Agnello. Arrange a taxi from the station to Frantoio Gargiulo, Via Nastro D’Argento 9, and book the return as well. Sant’Agnello Tourism lists local taxi contacts. The experience’s accommodation pickup is a different arrangement: station collection needs explicit confirmation and is not automatically included.
From the airport
Naples Capodichino Airport (NAP)
Curreri runs an airport shuttle to the Sorrento peninsula, calling at Sant’Agnello and terminating at Sorrento railway station. At the airport, boarding is in the tourist-coach parking area. Confirm your stop with the carrier, then use a prebooked taxi to Via Nastro D’Argento 9, or reach your accommodation for the agreed pickup. Check current departures and traffic allowances; the airport shuttle is separate from the tasting.
Always check the meeting point on your voucher: it may vary by the option booked. Check timetables and connections again before travelling.
