From the vines to the glass
The programme includes the vineyard and winery. Arrive with a practical question in mind: how does work among the vines relate to what happens after the grapes are picked? Ask which stages will be explained on your visit, and follow the guide’s account without assuming every production process will be operating in front of you. Even if you know some local wines, comparing an explanation with your own impressions can make later choices more interesting. If you would like photographs of working areas, ask where they are permitted. A wine tour does not automatically include taking part in a harvest, so treat that as a separate activity unless expressly booked.
Use the tasting to discover your preferences
Three wines and small food accompaniments are included in the tasting. You do not need a specialist vocabulary: describe what you notice in everyday words and jot down the differences you find useful. Ask which bottle might suit a favourite dish or how you could serve it at home. Take your time comparing the pours, and decide for yourself how much to drink. If you would like to buy wine, check the label, bottle size and transport arrangements before making a choice. Personal purchases are separate from the planned tasting. Request an alcohol-free alternative in advance if needed, and arrange a return journey that does not involve driving after drinking.
Leave room for Frascati and lunch
The wine-focused part is followed by a guided visit to the centre and lunch at an osteria. The advertised lunch includes cheese, vegetables and cured meats, followed by pasta with seasonal sauces. Give this part of the programme room in your day too: another restaurant booking or a tightly timed attraction afterwards can make the outing unnecessarily rushed. Explain allergies and dietary requirements ahead of time and ask which alternatives can be confirmed; do not assume every dish can be changed on arrival. If you have spare time afterwards, you can explore independently while keeping enough time to reach your train. Agree the finishing location with the guide, particularly if your return train leaves from a different station from the morning meeting point.
Check the details before setting out
Viator lists the experience in English. Confirm the language of your chosen session and the arrangements for children before booking. The local transfers provided during the tour are separate from your train journey out of Rome, which you purchase independently. Save the voucher and read the organiser’s messages the evening before, as these may update the meeting time or location. For mobility requirements, discuss access to the vehicle, vineyard and cellar, explaining what you need in practical terms. Comfortable shoes and a layer suited to the weather make sense. Keep luggage light so that you are not managing a large suitcase at every stage of a several-hour itinerary.
Frascati
How to get there
From the train station
Frascati / Tor Vergata
From Roma Termini, look for a regional train to Frascati; Trenitalia describes a journey of around thirty minutes. Monday to Friday and on Sunday, the advertised meeting is in front of Frascati station. On Saturday, take a service calling at Tor Vergata and meet outside that station instead, following the instructions you receive. These are different stations. Check the stop list even when the departure board names Cassino or Frosinone as the train’s destination. Once outside, find your host before walking into town. Your booking confirmation and any subsequent operator updates determine the actual meeting arrangements.
From the airport
Roma Fiumicino — Leonardo da Vinci (FCO)
At Fiumicino Airport, follow signs to the railway station and take Leonardo express to Roma Termini, a journey of approximately 32 minutes. Change there for Frascati or Tor Vergata as specified for your date, then go to the meeting point outside the confirmed station. Allow separate time for baggage collection, waiting and changing platforms: time on board alone is not enough to judge a connection. For a morning tour, arriving in Rome the previous day gives you more flexibility. Check railway service notices and your return arrangements as well.
Always check the meeting point on your voucher: it may vary by the option booked. Check timetables and connections again before travelling.
Before you go
