Following the milk through a working farm

Masseria Fragnite lies between Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni, in the province of Brindisi. The experience includes a farm visit, an explanation of its activities and a visit to the dairy. The producer’s programme links the cattle, milking room and cheesemaking process, helping visitors see a finished cheese as part of a wider daily routine.

The agricultural and dairy areas are workplaces. The sequence and accessible spaces may change with production and weather. Understanding how those stages fit together gives the tasting a context beyond the finished product.

The demonstration and the choice of tour

The cheesemaker’s demonstration is the central activity. Viator describes the mozzarella-making process, while the farm’s programme also introduces burrata, stracciatella and other cheeses. Watching how the curd stretches and changes shape gives you something specific to follow. Questions about texture, shaping and the differences between products can make the demonstration more rewarding.

The shared group visit is a demonstration. The producer explicitly distinguishes it from private tours that may include making mozzarella yourself. If hands-on participation is your priority, confirm that the selected option includes it before booking. Check the session’s language and start time as well: the shared tour is mainly delivered in English, and a complete translation into other languages is not guaranteed.

Making the most of the tasting

Viator’s sample menu lists mozzarella, stracciatella or burrata, caciocavallo, cured meats, focaccia and taralli, alongside Apulian wine and water. The producer describes the tasting as a basket of its own products, with the selection depending on availability and season. Comparing a fresh dairy product with a matured cheese is a good way to notice differences in texture and intensity without treating the tasting as a competition.

Tell the provider about allergies, intolerances and foods you avoid before booking. A cheese-focused visit does not automatically offer an equivalent dairy-free selection or a certified gluten-free menu; substitutions depend on the farm’s production. Confirm accompaniments and drinks if they matter to your plans. Treat the sample menu as an introduction to the experience rather than a fixed list of dishes.

Planning the countryside visit

The meeting point is Masseria Fragnite itself, at Via Ceglie-Ostuni 102, Ceglie Messapica. Although Viator places the listing in its Brindisi catalogue, the experience takes place at this rural address, not in Brindisi city. Save the full destination and arrange transport all the way to the farm, including the return journey. Reaching a station or Ostuni town centre is only part of the trip.

Viator gives an indicative duration of one to three hours; use your booking confirmation to plan the session. Wear comfortable closed shoes for the indoor and rural areas, where surfaces can be damp or uneven. Discuss access requirements beforehand. Check current prices, availability and conditions for your chosen date and option.

Ceglie Messapica

How to get there

From the train station

Ostuni railway station

Take the train to Ostuni, then use a pre-booked chauffeur transfer to Masseria Fragnite, Via Ceglie-Ostuni 102, Ceglie Messapica. Local operator In Ape Ostuni / Angels NCC advertises station transfers to farms and nearby destinations; agree the exact address, pickup point and return in advance. Trenitalia also confirms the Ostuni Link bus between the station and town centre, but that is not a verified connection to the farm. Do not plan the rural final leg as an ordinary town-centre walk.

From the airport

Brindisi, Salento Airport (BDS)

Arrange a taxi or chauffeur transfer from the airport directly to the farm’s address. Aeroporti di Puglia lists the airport radio-taxi contact, and the local NCC operator advertises Brindisi airport transfers. Alternatively, STP’s AP bus connects the airport to Brindisi railway station: look up a train to Ostuni, then complete the journey with the pre-booked transfer described above. Check connections, the quotation and return arrangements. An airport shuttle included in this experience has not been established.

Always check the meeting point on your voucher: it may vary by the option booked. Check timetables and connections again before travelling.
